The Sydney Swans VFL side have upset the top-of-the-table Footscray at Whitten Oval on Friday afternoon, defeating the home side by 59 points.
MATCH CENTRE AND HIGHLIGHTS
A monster 10-goal second quarter set up the win with ruckman Pete Ladhams starring with a career best 40 disposals, 47 hitouts, 19 clearances and a goal while Caiden Cleary was also busy across the park with 37 disposals.
Up forward it was Jevan Phillipou and Hayden McLean who dominated with five goals each.
The VFL game had similarities to the AFL match on Friday night with the Bulldogs getting the jump on the Swans, kicking the first three goals of the game to have Sydney on the back foot early.
The Swans kicked into gear late in the first with back-to-back goals to livewire Phillipou, who cut the deficit back to 14 points at the first break.
From then on it was all Sydney with the Swans kicking an incredible 10 goals to 1 in a blistering second quarter.

The goals were spread across the side with Jesse Dattoli, Nic Shipley, Hayden McLean and Corey Warner all kicking majors while Phillipou also added to his tally and Tom Ryan kicked back to back goals before a long range Patrick Snell goal on the siren gave the Swans a 44-point lead at the main break.
The Dogs came out hard after the main break and kicked four goals to the Swans two and also kicked the first of the final term but their challenge was denied as Sydney continued to make the most of their inside 50s.
Sydney were accurate in front of goals kicking 22.8 and used the noticeable breeze at Whitten Oval to their advantage with some long range goals in the final term from Ladhams and Joel Hamling (21 disposals and 2 goals). They added a further eight goals in the final term to finish 59-point victors.
