Sydney Swans coach John Longmire addressed the media at the SCG on Monday afternoon.

Sydney is set to face the Gold Coast Suns at the SCG on Saturday afternoon.

Here are some key quotes from the press conference.

Lance Franklin’s hamstring injury

“He’s disappointed. He’s a competitor. He likes to keep playing all the time. He pushes himself through a number of injuries. He’s a bit frustrated because it’s the second time he’s injured his hamstring this year off the back of no pre-season. We’ve just got to make we make the right decision, rehab him properly and have him train appropriately so he’s ready to go. We’re thinking he’ll be out for three to four weeks. That should give him enough time to train, and if he’s right by then we’ll play him, and if not, we’ll give him another week or so. We’ll be guided by how he’s training.”

Ryan Clarke on cusp of 50th AFL match

“He’s been able to play a disciplined role for us. He’s come into the team and added some midfield depth to that group, and that’s been important for us. We’ve been without Josh Kennedy and Zak Jones for periods of time this year, so those guys going out of the team has meant we’ve needed some depth in that area, and Ryan has been able to provide that for us.”

Gold Coast Suns

“They play a really competitive brand of footy. While we jumped out of the blocks against them last year, we stopped after that, and you can’t afford to do that. We need to make sure we take something out of that lesson and be mindful of playing a full four quarters regardless of the opposition and regardless of the scoreboard.”
