Rising Sydney Swans midfielder Jordan Dawson has committed to the Club for another two years, tying him to the red and white until at least the end of season 2021.

Recruited with pick 56 in the 2015 AFL Draft from South Australia, Dawson spent the early years of his career learning his craft in the NEAFL and getting his body ready for the rigours of the AFL.

The 22-year-old has had a breakout season in 2019, playing 12 games, kicking eight goals and emerging as a key member of coach John Longmire’s team.

Sydney Swans Head of Football Charlie Gardiner says the Club’s excited to have secured Dawson’s signature.

“We’re delighted that Jordan has re-signed, and he joins a number of our emerging young players to have now committed their futures to the Club which is fantastic,” Gardiner said.

“Jordan has had a breakthrough season this year, which is a great reward following his strong pre-season and solid performances at State league level over the past three seasons.

“He’s a very popular member of the group and adds great flexibility to our team with his ability to play a variety of roles across the ground.

“We look forward to seeing Jordan continue to develop his game this season and in the years to come.”

Dawson joins fellow youngsters Nick Blakey, James Rowbottom, Justin McInerney and Harry Reynolds, as well as ruckman Callum Sinclair, in re-committing to Sydney in 2019.
