Harry Cunningham is set to miss Saturday’s night’s match against Fremantle due to soreness in his groin.

The speedster returned to action on Saturday against Carlton but will be on the sidelines this week after pulling up sore upon return.

Head of Football Charlie Gardiner said Cunningham would not travel west this weekend.

“Harry has pulled up sore from the weekend’s game through his groin region,” he said.

“It is a different injury to what he sustained earlier in the year, but it is causing him some trouble.

“He is having some tests this week and will definitely mis this weekend’s game and possibly a couple more but we won’t know until we get the results of those tests.”

Ruckman Sam Naismith is nearing a return to senior football as he looks to overcome a knee injury that has hampered his 2019 season.

Naismith has increased his training in recent weeks as he closes in on a return to football.

“Sam is tracking really well, he is training solidly and working really hard on the track,” Gardiner said.

“He will train competitively again with the squad this week with a view to playing at some level again in Round 19.

“That is really exciting news for the Club to have one of our lead ruckman back for the last few rounds of the year.”

Veteran Jarrad McVeigh will miss the next month after suffering a calf strain in the NEAFL on the weekend.
