Sydney Swans star midfielder Zippy Fish is among the first eight players selected to represent their country in the upcoming NAB AFLW Australia v Ireland match.

Fish has been at the Swans since being taken at pick 5 in the 2024 AFLW draft and played 12 games in the red and white in her first season, averaging more than 21 disposals per match.

The 20-year-old Swan has been named to play for Australia alongside Kate Hore (Melbourne), Georgie Prespakis (Geelong Cats), Courtney Hodder (Brisbane Lions), Jasmine Garner (North Melbourne), Ash Riddell (North Melbourne), Monique Conti (Richmond) and Matilda Scholz (Port Adelaide), in the first batch of announcements today.

Today, the AFL also released eight players who will play for Ireland, with Orla O’Dwyer (Brisbane Lions), Sarah Rowe (Collingwood), Erika O’Shea (North Melbourne), Aishling Moloney (Geelong Cats), Aine McDonagh (Hawthorn), Dayna Finn (Carlton), Aisling McCarthy (Fremantle), Niamh Kelly (Adelaide Crows) selected.

The remaining players selected for the match will be named in the coming days.

Played under Australian Football rules (with a Sherrin), the match will be the first AFLW representative fixture since 2017. It will be played at 4.15pm at North Sydney Oval on Saturday, August 1.

Tickets for the match go on sale this Wednesday, 24 June.

Club and AFL members will have access from 10am AEST, before the general public at 12pm AEST.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for youth (aged 15 – 17), $5 for children (14 and under), while a family of four can attend for $50.

The match will start at 4.15pm AEST and will be broadcast live nationally on Fox Footy, Kayo Sports, Kayo Freebies and Binge.
