Sydney Swans senior coach Dean Cox has confirmed that star midfielder Errol Gulden will return when the Swans face the Brisbane Lions on Thursday, June 25 in Round 16 of the competition.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast with Garry and Tim this morning, Cox confirmed the return of Gulden, returning from a dislocated shoulder suffered in Round 1 against the Lions earlier this year.

“Errol will play,” Cox said this morning on SEN Breakfast.

“He’s got through everything he’s had to get through which is great for the football club and great for Errol because it’s been a hard two years for him.

“The resilience of the young man and what he’s gone through, he has trained extremely hard, done everything he possibly can and he’s ready to go which is really exciting.

Cox confirmed that Gulden will play close to his normal match minutes, with minimal restrictions.

“He won’t have too many restrictions on him. The pleasing thing after he started running, is that he’s been running for eight weeks, so has basically had another pre-season under his belt.

"I think one of his biggest strengths is how he covers the ground.

"He will be managed a little bit, but expect him to play the match minutes he normally does.

The Sydney Swans will face Brisbane in Round 16 with the final team to be announced on Wednesday, 24 June at 6:20pm.
