Sydney Swans midfielder Angus Sheldrick has been recognised in the 2026 AFL Players’ Association’s 22Under22 Squad, presented by Intrepid.

Named today, Sheldrick is the lone red and white player named in this year’s squad, earning his first selection.

Sheldrick has found consistency in 2026, playing in 17 games this season, with an average of 20.3 disposals, 11 handballs, 3.8 tackles and 2.9 clearances per game. Sheldrick had a career high 30 disposals in the Swans Round 12 victory over Richmond and a career high seven tackles against Adelaide in Round 19.

The 22under22 is a fan-voted concept that recognises the best 22 players aged under 22 and under for the entirety of the season. The final team will be decided by fans, with voting open for a week at 12pm AEST, Wednesday August 5 until 11:59pm AEST, Wednesday, August 12.

We encourage all Swans members and fans to cast their vote today by clicking here to submit their team.

The final team will be announced on at 12pm AEST, Wednesday August 19th via the AFL Players’ Association’s social media channels and website.

For a player to be eligible for selection in the squad, they must be 22 and under for the entirety of the season (including Grand Final Day, 26 September) and have played a minimum of 12 games in 2026.

To eligible for the squad of 40, they are required to play 50 per cent of the home and away season, equating to 12 matches. While there is a games minimum, players are rewarded for their consistency across the season.

The concept was introduced in 2013 to reward the young players who make an impact on their club and the competition so early in their careers.
