Sydney Swans senior coach Dean Cox has made four changes to his side which will face Port Adelaide at the SCG on Sunday afternoon.

Young forward Jesse Dattoli will feature in his first game of the 2026 season, following strong form in the VFL. The 19-year-old played three games in his debut campaign last year and Cox said he had earned his return to the side.

“He had an interrupted pre-season, he’s played some really good football probably for the last five or six weeks,” Cox said.

“He really warrants his selection and I'm looking forward to seeing him play again."

Defender Sam Wicks has been named after a successful return from injury last week, while Joel Hamling and Lewis Melican have also been recalled.

James Rowbottom and Will Edwards will miss through injury, while Rosas Jnr has been omitted and Dane Rampe managed.

“(Rampe) has played six games in a row now, he's 36 years of age and it's about making sure that he's at his best each week,” Cox said.

“He’ll still be in a training over the weekend and next week and be ready for Essendon.”

Cox said Port Adelaide always proved a tough match-up.

“They're really good defensively around the contest, that’s one of their strengths as well, they restrict ball movement, they stop uncontested marks,” Cox said.

“They get dominance off some of their clearance wins and battles when they're having that so we're there to make sure we're really across that and our players bring the heat right from the outset.”
