The Sydney Swans have today finalised the structure of their AFL coaching department for 2027, after the appointment of Andrew Boston as a Development Coach.

Boston arrives at the Swans having recently been the Senior Head Coach of the South Cairns Football Club in Queensland for the last two seasons. Prior to that, the 32-year-old was the Senior Assistant Coach of the Southport Sharks VFL Football Club.

Boston joins the coaching ranks at Sydney under VFL Coach and Head of Development Nick Malceski, alongside Adam Kennedy and Paddy McCartin as Development Coaches.

As a player, Boston represented the Gold Coast Suns at AFL level in 16 games during the 2013 and 2015 seasons.

This finalises Dean Cox’s coaching panel for the 2027 season, with Simon Goodwin remaining in his role as Director of Coaching and Performance, alongside Ben Mathews as Senior Assistant Coach, and Amon Buchanan and Jeremy Laidler as assistant coaches.

Sydney Swans Executive General Manager, AFL Football, Leon Cameron welcomed Boston to the Club.

“When we were going through the process of recruiting a development coach, Andrew was the standout choice, where his leadership and player development skills shone through,” Cameron said.

“As a player, he has been through the AFL system so knows what it is like in an elite environment, and we think he will be an excellent addition to our development coaching team.

“As we prepare for the men’s playing group to come back to training in late November, this finalises Coxy’s coaching group for 2027, so we are looking forward to getting to work.”
