It was a special night for the North Ryde Dockers on Monday when two star Swans dropped by for training and bought with them an significant donation to help the Club recover from a fire that destroyed their entire clubhouse in February.

Isaac Heeney and Dane Rampe visited the ELS Hall Park in North Ryde on Monday to spread some joy with the juniors from the club and share their football knowledge.

They were also joined by representatives from North Shore Volkswagen who had a cheque to the value of $1,000 to hand over to the Club.

General Manager North Shore Volkswagen Sam Coghlan said he was a pleased to be able to help out the Club in need.

“We heard about the North Ryde Dockers clubhouse burning down so we have come down to present them with a cheque for a donation as part of the Volkswagen Grassroots Grants program,” Coghlan said.

The 2019 Volkswagen Grassroots Grants program will be launching again later in the year and applications will open soon with more information to follow on the Sydney Swans website.

Having already raised money for the Club through donations at their opening JLT Series match against GWS the Swans players were only too happy to put a smile on some young footballers faces.

“We had a little training session with them and it is amazing from Volkswagen to donate $1,000 to help them rebuild the club house,” Heeney said.

“Hopefully we can get the morale up around here and have a kick with some youngster.”
