The Sydney Swans will enter the continuation of the AFL National Draft on Friday looking to fill three remaining spots on the clubs senior list.

It was a busy night for the Swans as they took Academy product Nick Blakey with pick 10 (matching GWS Giants bid) and were involved in a number of live draft pick trades with West Coast.

National Recruiting Manager Simon Dalrymple said the night proved to be a positive one for the Club.

“It was a very busy night and obviously unique in it being the first time that you have been able to trade picks,” Dalrymple said.

“There was a lot of activity going on and a lot of potential deals on the table.

“We had a clear strategy going in and it was some great work from some of our staff to think creatively and keep throwing up ideas.

“It has ended up with us coming earlier into the draft with pick 25 which we are thrilled to have.”

Sydney will look to fill their three remaining spots on their senior list when the draft resumes on Friday, with the club’s next three picks currently 25, 40 and 46.

Dalrymple said the recruiting team was confident there was still plenty of talent left in the draft pool heading into day two.

“We have a talent order which we will work off and it is very much best player available,” he said.

“We think there is some good players still left so we are looking forward to it so we will have another night of sleep and then get into it.”
