Star forward Lance Franklin is confident he can play consistent football in 2015 after completing the majority of pre-season training during his second year at the club.

Looking relaxed at the Sydney Swans’ season launch on Tuesday night, Franklin couldn’t help but think about what lies ahead.

On April 4 he hopes to spearhead the Swans side that will face Essendon in round one of the season.

Sooner than that Franklin, who had played 22 games and kicked 67 goals in his first season for the Swans, is set to throw his hat in the ring for Sunday’s NAB Challenge game against Fremantle at Drummoyne.

It’s been a long preseason “but an enjoyable one” for the star full-forward who hasn’t minded the grind given his interrupted preseason this time 12 months ago.

“I’m feeling pretty good this time of year,” Franklin said. “This year I’ve been able to get out there a bit more than last year.

“On the back of that I’m pretty confident I’m in for a good season.

“In saying that it’s a long season, there’s plenty of ups and downs, but I’m going in with full confidence my body is going to hold up and hold me in good stead.”

It should also go a long way in helping Franklin reach a consistent brand of football which he outlined was a major goal aside from helping the Swans win this year’s premiership.

“We’re really using the next couple of weeks as a platform for the season, I can’t wait to get out there,” Franklin said.

“Personally I just want to play some consistent football all year round, week by week play well for the footy club.

“Success and a premiership is what we’ll all be striving for and hopefully we can get there.”
