Round 1 v Port Adelaide (SCG) – Lost by 28 points. Port’s Ollie Wines polled 10 CA votes. Lance Franklin (4) was the only Sydney player recognised by the coaches.

Round 2 v Western Bulldogs (Etihad) – Lost by 23 points. Sam Reid is tipped to get the Swans’ first Brownlow votes after he kicked a career-best six goals to poll nine CA votes and split the best afield ranking with the Dogs’ Marcus Bontempelli.

Round 3 v Collingwood (SCG) – Lost by 1 point despite a late Nic Newman goal. Collingwood’s Taylor Adams (9) and Adam Treloar (7) were judged best by the coaches. Josh Kennedy (32 disposals, 1 goal) was the only Swan in the CA votes.

Brownlow: Taylor Adams (Coll) 3, Steele Sidebottom (Coll) 2, Adam Treloar (Coll) 1.

Round 4 v West Coast (Domain) – Lost by 26 points. Eagles Luke Shuey (10) and Elliot Yeo (6) headed the CA votes but Josh Kennedy (33 disposals) could sneak into the umpire’s votes after five CA votes.

Round 5 v GWS (SCG) – Lost by 42 points. No coaches vote. Giants Toby Greene and Shane Mumford polled nine CA votes each.

Round 6 v Carlton (MCG) – Lost by 19 points. Blues Sam Docherty (39 disposals) and Matthew Wright (4 goals) polled nine CA votes each.

Round 7 v Brisbane (SCG) – Won by 54 points in the start of the resurgence. Lance Franklin kicked eight goals to scoop the CA votes with 10, while Zak Jones (27 disposals and 1 goal) received eight CA votes.

Round 8 v North Melbourne (Etihad) – Won by 42 points. Josh Kennedy (37 disposals and 1 goal) and Luke Parker (36 disposals and 2 goals) polled 10 and eight CA votes, while Dan Hannebery (33 disposals and 2 goals) also figured in the top three.

Round 9 v St Kilda (Etihad) – Won by 50 points. Coaches were agreed that Dan Hannebery (30 disposals and 2 goals), was best afield from Jake Lloyd (35 disposals) and Josh Kennedy (35 disposals and 1 goal).

Round 10 v Hawthorn (SCG) – Lost by 6 points. Lance Franklin (5 goals) and Hawthorn’s Shaun Burgoyne (26 disposals and 2 goals) split the CA votes with nine each.

Round 12 v Western Bulldogs (SCG) – Won by 46 points. Isaac Heeney had a season-high 31 disposals and could figure in the Brownlow votes for the first time after the CA votes didn’t identify a clear standout. Josh Kennedy (37 disposals and 1 goal) and Sam Reid (16 disposals and 2 goals) also caught the coach’s eye.

Round 13 v Richmond (MCG) – Won by 9 points. Tigers’ All-Australian captain Alex Rance polled 10 CA votes in a losing side, while Nic Newman, with 26 disposals, could poll for the Swans.

Round 14 v Essendon (SCG) – Won by 1 point with a Gary Rohan goal after the siren. Josh Kennedy (36 disposals) polled 10 CA votes from Essendon’s Zac Merrett (7).

Round 15 v Melbourne (MCG) – Won by 36 points after a bad start. Luke Parker had a season-high 38 disposals to pick up 10 CA votes, while Franklin polled eight CA votes with four goals. Zak Jones (26 disposals) could also sneak into the votes.

Round 16 v Gold Coast (SCG) – Won by 67 points after another slow start.  Gary Rohan kicked a career-best five goals to claim 10 CA votes, while Dane Rampe (25 disposals) and Luke Parker (29 disposals) were other standouts.

Round 17 v GWS (Spotless) – Led all the way in a 13-point thriller. Lance Franklin (4 goals) was judged best afield by both coaches. Jarrad McVeigh, in his fourth game back for the Swans, polled five CA votes. Giants skipper Callum Ward polled nine CA votes.

Round 18 v St Kilda (SCG) – Won by 42 points. Callum Sinclair took a career-best 10 marks and kicked a career-best five goals to scoop the CA votes with 10. Lewis Melican could also score his first Brownlow vote after he won a NAB AFL Rising Star Award nomination for an excellent shutdown job on St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt. Franklin (4 goals) also figured in the CA votes.

Round 19 v Hawthorn (MCG) – Lost by 6 points. Hawthorn’s Ben McEvoy (10) and Liam Shiels (8) headed the CA votes. Luke Parker (3 votes) was rated the best Sydney player.

Brownlow: Jaryd Roughead (Haw) 3, Liam Shiels (Haw) 2, Luke Parker (Syd) 1.

 

Round 20 v Geelong (Skilled) – Won by 46 points.  Luke Parker, with 23 disposals and 13 tackles, polled nine CA votes, while Jarrad McVeigh (21 disposals) was judged next best by the coaches with six votes. Dan Hannebery and Geelong’s Mitch Duncan polled five CA votes each.

Round 21 v Fremantle (SCG) – Won by 104 points. Luke Parker (29 disposals and 3 goals) polled maximum CA votes, while Lance Franklin (24 disposals and 4 goals) and Dan Hannebery (29 disposals) picked up seven votes apiece.

Round 22 v Adelaide (Adelaide) – Beat the minor premiers by 3 points.  Dane Rampe polled seven CA votes after 16 disposals and a superb job in a Sydney defence that stood firm against an imposing 63-42 inside 50 count against them. He split the CA honours with Adelaide’s Matt Crouch.

Round 23 v Carlton (SCG) – Won by 81 points. Lance Franklin kicked a Swans-best 10 goals to clinch the Coleman Medal. Josh Kennedy (30 disposals and 1 goal) and Luke Parker (28 disposals) also polled well with the coaches.
