The Sydney Swans are saddened by the passing of NEAFL volunteer Warren Costello, who has died at the age of 78.

A former professional tennis chair umpire for the French and Australian Open, he was a long-serving timekeeper for the Sydney Swans reserves side.

In 2012 Warren was awarded the John Yates Award, presented at the Sydney Swans Club Champion event, for his contribution to football over many years.

Always positive, he loved his Swans and a chat.

The Sydney Swans sends its condolences to Warren's family.
