Josh Kennedy, Lance Franklin and Luke Parker have been nominated for the AFL Players Association Most Valuable Player Award.

On the back of All Australian selection and a fourth Coleman Medal, Franklin headlines the Swans player voted most influential by their teammates.

The trio are among 54 players from across the league who are in line for the prestigious award with the winner to be announced on Tuesday evening.

The award has been won by the Swans just once previously when Gerrard Healy took out the honour following his standout 1988 season.

Nominations for the MVP award is a two-stage process – the first is players nomination three teammates for the award, the second is three nominations from each club are presented to the wider playing group for a final vote on the winner.

Players cannot vote for their own teammates during the second stage of the process.

Fresh from his recent AFL Rising Star nomination Will Hayward has been nominated for the Best First Year player, an award won over the last two years by Isaac Heeney and Callum Mills.

Mills has been nominated for the Most Courageous award, previously won by Luke Parker in 2015 and 2016.

Kennedy is among the contenders for the 2017 Best Captain to be announced on the night after a standout season in his first as captain of the Swans.

The winners will be announced at the AFL Players’ MVP Awards on Tuesday 12th September at Peninsula in Docklands.
