Lance Franklin is out.

The star forward, who had only just returned last weekend from a back strain, has succumbed to the same complaint and will miss Saturday night’s clash at Simonds Stadium.

Despite kicking three goals and having a hand in the Swans’ big win over the Crows, Franklin suffered some discomfort in the same problem area which forced his late withdrawal from the Swans’ last away match against West Coast.

Franklin failed to complete training during the week which forced the Club’s fitness staff to rule the 28-year-old out.

Franklin is yet to play a game at Kardinia Park and that’s set to continue, with Swans coach John Longmire telling SwansTV the coaching and fitness staff are wary the injury could sideline the full forward for longer than one week.

“We hope it’s only one week” Longmire said for Centrum Team Selection.

“He’s still sore today. We didn’t have enough time to get him up for this weekend…it was just too short of a timeframe.

“We’ll just have to wait and see.”

In better news, Adam Goodes makes a timely return after missing a week due to personal leave.
