Rod Carter was inducted into the Swans Hall of Fame in 2011.
Having begun his career with Fitzroy in 1974, Rod Carter crossed to the Swans where he made his debut in the red and white in 1980. A supremely competitive full-back, he played 217 games for the Swans, and overall 293 AFL games. His determination and single-mindedness to nullify every opponent were legendary. It is commonly accepted that his career coincided with a golden era of full-forwards, including all-time greats such as Lockett, Dunstall, Quinlan and McKenna, all of whom acknowledged him as one of their consistently toughest opponents. He kicked one much-celebrated goal, and was much loved by the Swans faithful.
