BEN McGlynn is on the road to recovery and the Sydney Swans medical staff believe he might be back on the field in two to three weeks.

The courageous Swan had surgery on Sunday morning to repair a fractured cheekbone suffered in the third term of the game against Fremantle.

Surgeons in Perth, where the operation was performed, have told Swans doctor Nathan Gibbs that the procedure went well.

McGlynn was released from hospital on Monday and will see the surgeon again in Perth on Wednesday.

He’s expected to fly home to Sydney on Friday.

Sydney Swans General Manager, Football, Dean Moore, said everyone at the Club was relieved to know McGlynn’s operation had gone to plan.

“Ben is in much better spirits and we are all looking forward to seeing him back at the Club later this week,’’ Moore said.
