Sydney Swans co-captain Adam Goodes’ message is simple: If you want to be a Swan then it’s time to get on board.

A crowd exceeding 45,000 is expected at ANZ Stadium this Saturday night, in what is the Swans’ penultimate home fixture for the season.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s blockbuster clash with 2011 grand finalists Collingwood, Goodes said now was the time for Swans supporters to show their true colours.

“This is our second last home game, so if people want to see us they have got to come out and see us at ANZ because the Hawthorn game has already been sold out,” he said.

“If you want to watch us play this year then you’ve got to get out to ANZ.

“This is why we play football - for these big games and hopefully a big crowd out at ANZ Stadium against a team that is in some really good form.”

Four weeks out from the end of the home and away season, Goodes predicted that this weekend’s match will be as close as it comes to a ‘finals-like’ atmosphere.

“We’re going to have two teams that are going to come out and are going to be hungry,” he said.

“There is going to be fantastic pressure on the ball carrier and people up here are going to get a good insight into what finals footy potentially could look like,” he said.

“I think when two teams want to win so much on a big stage like Saturday night with the lights on and a big crowd, then (a finals-like atmosphere) happens.”

The Swans are aiming to record their tenth consecutive win this weekend, and face an in-form Collingwood side with a top-four finish in their sights.

With a month of football remaining, Goodes said producing wins over benchmark teams like the Magpies is crucial for his team.

“I think every game going forward is an eight-point game,” he said.

“If we want to be successful as a group then we’ve got to beat those teams and produce our best footy at the right time.

“There’s no better time to start than now and we’re really looking forward to the challenge on Saturday night against the Pies.”

Despite the club’s recent form against the Pies, which has seen Collingwood win the last ten matches against the Swans, Goodes said he believes Sydney is playing the type of football that can challenge the Magpies’ winning streak.

“I think if we work hard and we stick to our game plan we definitely can (beat Collingwood),” Goodes said.

 “I think we’ve definitely improved from (last year’s) game and I think they’ve improved as well.

“There are not too many teams that are going backwards in the top eight, so it’s just going to be one of those games that’s going to go right down to the wire and hopefully our experience and our form that we’re taking into the game puts us in good stead.”

Goodes added that the suspension of Collingwood star midfielder Dane Swan has not influenced the Swans view on the match.

“We don’t buy into any other clubs’ issues,” he said.

“It’s a bonus for us because (Swan) is a fantastic player and has been in super form, but I think it just cancels out our injury with Jude (Bolton) hopefully.

“I don’t think it will change too much on Saturday night, because they have a lot of fantastic players in their midfield that we need to look out for, but at the same time we have to keep playing to our structures and to our game plan.”
