SYDNEY Swans premiership player Paul Bevan has been cleared by the AFL Tribunal of a rough conduct charge.

Bevan was charged with a Level One engaging in rough conduct offence for a tackle on Western Bulldogs player Ryan Griffen in the second quarter of Saturday night’s game at the SCG.

Due to Bevan’s five year good record, the AFL’s match review panel said Bevan could accept a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record with an early plea.

However the Club chose to contest the charge. At a tribunal hearing tonight, it was argued that Bevan’s tackle was reasonable in the circumstances.

After hearing the evidence, Bevan was cleared, and is free to play against the Brisbane Lions this Saturday night at the Gabba.
