Sydney Swans members and fans will enjoy a bumper return of footy in 2021, with blockbuster match-ups a feature of the opening six weeks.

After kicking off the season in Queensland against the Brisbane Lions, Round 2 will see the long-awaited return of action to the SCG when the Swans play Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.

The fixture is also a win for Victorian members, with a Saturday afternoon match against the reigning premiers scheduled for the MCG in Round 3.

Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley said Sydney's opening six rounds offer a lot to look forward to.

“Having endured a tough 2020, it's exciting for all of our members and fans to see a new season on the horizon,” Harley said.

“The first six weeks of the season will see us tested against some of the very best teams in the competition and we look forward to that challenge.

“Our return to the SCG will be marked by blockbuster matchups including a marquee Thursday night clash during the school holidays against Essendon and a big Sydney Derby on Saturday afternoon.

“In great news for our Victorian members, we will return to the MCG for a clash with Richmond in Round 3, in what marks the first of six games in Melbourne.

“Our members have shown their incredible passion and loyalty in 2020 and we can’t wait to welcome them back to the stands in the new year."

While timeslots remain floating for matches beyond April, Swans fans can look forward to 11 home games the SCG as well as a Sydney Derby at Giants Stadium in Round 18.

Of the six matches to be played in Melbourne, two will be at the MCG (Richmond, Melbourne) and a further four at Marvel Stadium (St Kilda, Western Bulldogs, Essendon and North Melbourne).

The club will travel twice to Queensland (Round 1 and 6), once to Perth (Round 10) and once to Adelaide (Round 15)
