The Sydney Swans AFL team will travel by charter flight to Melbourne tonight ahead of their Round Eight match against Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday, May 8.

The club can confirm that coaches Don Pyke, Jarrad McVeigh and Dean Cox will not travel with the team to Melbourne for the match.

The three coaches were deemed casual contacts, after visiting the Azure Cafe exposure site between 12:30pm - 1pm on Monday May 3. All three have since returned negative Covid tests.

Other coaches, including senior coach John Longmire, attended the cafe outside of the notified exposure time.

All Swans players and football staff were tested on Wednesday evening. All tests have returned negative results.

The Swans’ VFL team will not travel to Melbourne this weekend with their match against the Casey Demons scheduled for Sunday, May 9 to be postponed. The VFL match will be rescheduled and more information will be provided next week.

The Club continues to work with the AFL and will be led by the advice of respective governments and public health officials.
