Joel Amartey has shown strong form in the ruck and as a key-position player at both ends of the ground since being drafted to the Sydney Swans as a rookie ahead of the 2018 season. The Ghanaian-Australian appeared in six senior games in 2022 kicking five goals and 14 tackles. With the likes of Lance Franklin, Logan McDonald and Sam Reid to look up to, the key forward has plenty of role models to help build his game during the 2023 season.
