The Sydney Swans selected Tom Hanily from the Gippsland Power with pick 14 in the 2024 Mid-Season Rookie Draft. Hailing from Leongatha, located 140km south-east of Melbourne, Hanily moved to NSW following the draft in the pursuit of AFL at the highest level. After a strong preseason the medium forward made his debut in Opening Round of the 2024 season against Hawthorn and appeared in a further seven games, kicking six goals.
