Paris McCarthy hails from Co. Kerry, Ireland and was one of three cross-code athletes to join the Sydney Swans in 2023. McCarthy played Division One Basketball for East Tennessee State University on a full scholarship in 2022 and has represented Ireland throughout her development years (U16, 18, 20) before earning selection in the 2022 All-Ireland Team. Before making the move to Australia, she played Gaelic football for Co. Kerry. She impressed early on as a rookie in 2023 before recording her best AFLW season last season. McCarthy was called up to represent Ireland in the historic NAB AFLW clash against Australia in 2026.
