Tanya Kennedy hails from Co.Donegal, Ireland and grew up watching and playing Gaelic football before moving to Australia in 2012. After playing with Gaelic football club Clanna Gael Sydney, Kennedy tried her hand at Aussie rules, joining the Inner West Magpies for a season. She was recruited to the club's AFLW list ahead of the upcoming 2023 season and came into the squad following the loss of two athletes due to injury. She has gone on to cement a permanent position after back-to-back stellar seasons. Kennedy was also selected as part of the 25-player squad to represent Ireland in the historic NAB AFLW clash against Australia.
