Sydney Swans midfielder Callum Mills has topped the Sydney Swans votes at Sunday night's 2021 Brownlow Medal.

The AFL's night of night's was this year held in Perth ahead of Saturday's Grand Final, with Swans players, who are in Sydney lockdown, joining the event via Zoom.

Port Adelaide's Ollie Wines was crowned the 2021 Brownlow Medallist, polling 36 votes, three clear of Western Bulldogs Marcus Bontempelli (33 votes) with Melbourne's Clayton Oliver rounding out the top three with 30 votes.

Mills (18 votes) finished in 15th position overall and polled one vote ahead of teammate Luke Parker (17 votes). It was a solid effort from Mills, who missed four games in the 2021 season.

Co-Captain Josh Kennedy polled votes for an eleventh consecutive season, adding another eight votes to his record to move to 146 votes and Lance Franklin also polled eight votes taking his career tally to 178 votes and moving his way up to 16th place in all-time Brownlow votes. Isaac Heeney also joined Franklin and Kennedy polling 8 votes.

Meanwhile Errol Gulden joined an illustrious club, becoming just the fifth Swan to poll votes in a debut game. The 19-year old polling two votes for his impressive debut against the Lions in Round 1.

Chad Warner, Hayden McLean and Will Hayward also all polled votes for the first time in their careers.

Tom Hickey's superb season was also rewarded. The ruckman had only polled one vote in his past 10 seasons but in 2021 polled votes in the first three rounds (1 vote in Round 1, 2 votes in Round 2 and 1 vote in Round 3) to finish with four votes.
