The Sydney Swans have brought in Peter Ladhams and a future draft selection following this year’s Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.
On the final day of the trade period, the Sydney Swans secured ruckman Peter Ladhams who joined the club in the dying minutes of the trade period that concluded at 7:30pm on Wednesday October 13, 2021.
In a deal struck with Port Adelaide, Ladhams will join the Swans in exchange for a future third round selection in the NAB AFL Draft, while the two clubs will swap 2021 first round draft selections.
Ladhams was recruited to Port Adelaide via the 2017 rookie draft and has played 32 career matches since debuting in 2019. He played 17 matches with Port in 2021, including the qualifying and preliminary finals.
Sydney also finalised a deal to trade Jordan Dawson to the Adelaide Crows in exchange for a 2022 first round selection in the NAB AFL Draft (tied to the Melbourne Football Club).
Earlier in the trade period, the Swans made the decision not to match a restricted free-agency offer on George Hewett, with the defender signing a long term offer from the Carlton Football Club.
Hewett, 25, was drafted with pick 32 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft. He debuted in 2016 and played a total 120 games with the Swans.
The AFL advised that the club will receive an end of Round 2 compensation selection in the upcoming NAB AFL draft.
Sydney holds picks 16, 31, 39, 70, 88 at the upcoming AFL Draft as well as a future first-round pick in the 2022 draft.
