The Sydney Swans Football Club congratulates Elizabeth Ann Macgregor, Cath Cox and Barb Cullen who have been acknowledged in the 2022 Australia Day Honours. 

Liz Ann Macgregor is a Sydney Swans Foundation Board Member and Swans Ambassador and received a Member of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for her significant service to museums and galleries through leadership roles with arts institutions.

Beginning her career as curator/driver of the Scottish Arts Council’s Travelling Gallery, it ignited her commitment to engaging new audiences with the work of living artists. A director of Ikon Gallery, Birmingham for a decade before directorship at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art for two decades, Macgregor negotiated a new funding model with government, sponsors and philanthropists when the latter faced significant challenges. Committed to supporting artists and expanding the audience for art, she has initiated a unique program of partnerships in Western Sydney and successfully negotiated a $53m building redevelopment completed in 2012 which includes a National Centre for Creative Learning.

In 2011 she received an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. In 2019 she was included in ArtReview’s international Power 100 list, she won the ‘Arts & Culture Category’ of the Australian Financial Review ‘100 Women of Influence Awards’, and was awarded the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue’s Patrons’ Prize for Collaboration. She sits on the Foundation of the Sydney Swans and the Board of UNICEF Australia

Sydney Swans ambassador and former Australian captain and two-time world champion netballer Catherine Cox was recognised as a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to netball as a player and coach.

An avid Swans ambassador, Cox has won 108 caps with the Diamonds since her debut in 1997, and was part of the Australian team that won the world championship in 2007 and 2011, as well as Commonwealth Games gold in 2002 and silver in 2006 and 2010.

Cox became just the fourth Australian netball international to reach he 100 game milestone. She now works as a netball commentator.

Club Historian Barbara Cullen was recognised and recipient of an OAM following her outstanding contribution and service to Australian rules football history.

She has a long history of commitment to AFL affiliated grounds and clubs and has volunteered as a curator assisting clubs with archival collection.
