UPCOMING GAME
Sydney Swans v Geelong Cats - Round 2

SCG
Friday March 25, 7.50pm

INS: Jake Lloyd, Chad Warner
OUTS: Justin McInerney (injured)

Sydney Swans coach John Longmire has confirmed two changes for the Sydney Swans ahead of their round 2 fixture against Geelong Cats at the SCG tomorrow night.

Chad Warner and Jake Lloyd will return to the side, replacing Angus Sheldrick and an injured Justin McInerney.

“McInerney’s knee just wasn’t quite right, hopefully he’s okay for next week,” says Longmire.

“Jake (Lloyd) brings enormous experience in our back half, he’s a smart bloke and a great player. We’ll need to make sure we’re on our game because the Cats kicked a lot of goals last week against Essendon. Chad’s (Warner) had a terrific pre-season, he’s a player that can play midfield, he can play forward, and he’s got plenty of power so it’s good to get him back in as well.”

The Swans defeated GWS Giants by 20 points in their season opener in what Longmire says was a promising performance to begin the 2022 season.

“Our ability to keep the pressure on for four quarters and withstand the momentum that good teams get, and this week will be no different. The Cats will get momentum at different times and you’ve got to withstand that. They had plus-42 in contested ball last week, they’re a very good football team, they win their own footy, so we’ll have to play really well.”

It’s been nine long months since the red and white faithful filled the stands of the SCG, and Longmire says he’s expecting a full house for the blockbuster occasion.

“It’s great to be back at the SCG to play here in front of supporters, we’re really looking forward to it. Hopefully they can get here nice and early there are big crowds expected, it’ll be great to be back here at our home the SCG.”

First bounce is at 7:50pm AEST and the match will be live on the Seven Network, Fox Footy, and Kayo.
