TADHG Kennelly told sydneyswans.com.au his thoughts on the 2010 season, which team-mate impressed him most and what he'll be doing in the break...

What was the highlight of the 2010 season for you from a team perspective?

The last two months of the year were absolutely fantastic. We put out a statement to the competition and to ourselves that we’re a team that is good enough to be in the top four. Our form certainly probably wasn’t consistent enough throughout the year but definitely the last two months we were really consistent and beat some high quality teams.

How about personally - what was your highlight?
It’s just great to be back and to get through the year and be healthy. It has been awhile since I’ve been able to play a season healthy and my body has been able to stand up and I feel great. It’s the end of the season and I have no surgeries for probably the first time in five years so it’s great.

Which team-mate impressed you the most throughout the season and why?
There’s probably a few. As individuals you look at Lewis Jetta, every time he gets the ball he stands out quite a bit. Then you’ve got Josh Kennedy who’s very much like a Kirky who’s in there, in and under, not getting noticed a whole lot but is so valuable to the team. Shane Mumford has obviously been fantastic.

But I think the one player for me has been Kieren Jack; he’s just taken his game to a new level. He is now an elite performer; an elite midfielder in the competition. Instead of him tagging players, he’s got players tagging him now which is a great achievement for Kieren coming from a rugby league background. He’s just given the team so much more grunt; his kicking has been amazing so he’s probably been the standout for the year.

What parts of your game would you like to improve on in season 2011?
For me it’s about consistent performances throughout the year. I’ve played 20 games this year and been able to be at a consistent level is probably the one key thing that I need to do. As a leader and senior player at the Club, I can’t afford for my performances to drop, I can’t afford to play average games. The majority of my games have to be above average and that’s what I strive to get to and where I got to most of this year.

What are your plans for the off-season?
I’ll stick around for the first couple of weeks until the Best and Fairest and then I’ll head home and play the International Rules. A couple of the boys here are on the team: Goodesy, Macca and Kieren Jack so it’s going to be fun to have them over in Ireland and show them the country side and festivities of Ireland for a few weeks. Then to be able to kick the crap out of them on the field is going to be even better fun. I’ll then come back and get into the pre-season and get ready for next year.
