History will be made at North Sydney Oval next month when the Sydney Swans play their first game in the AFLW competition.

The AFL has released the fixture for season seven today and the Swans will kick off their inaugural season against St Kilda on Saturday August 27 at 5:10pm.

The Swans will play their home games at three venues across Sydney, with Henson Park hosting two matches and North Sydney Oval and the SCG to host one fixture each.

The Henson Park games include two family-friendly Saturday afternoon matches against the Gold Coast Suns (Round 7) and Fremantle (Round 9).

Round 3 will see the Swans play their first game at the SCG, in what is set to be a blockbuster against cross-town rivals, the GIANTS. This match will also be the AFL's Indigenous Round and the team will wear Sydney’s original Marn Grook guernsey.

In exciting news for Sydney Swans members and fans in Melbourne, the club will play a 'home' fixture at Punt Road Oval against Hawthorn on Grand Final Eve, Friday, September 23.

Victorian fans will also get the chance to support the team in matches against Collingwood (Round 2 at Victoria Park), North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos (Round 6 at Arden Street), Essendon (Round 8 at Ikon Park – which is also Pride Round) and Geelong (Round 10 at GMHBA Stadium).

Sydney Swans Executive General Manager- AFL, Kate Mahony said the club is really pleased with the fixture for the team's inaugural season.

"We're really excited to have our games locked in for the season ahead - it's an incredibly special year for the Sydney Swans as entry into the women's competition is something our club has been working towards for quite some time," Mahony said.

"Our members and fans can start planning and get excited about the matches we have before us. We'll be kicking off the season at home and are looking forward to having a solid turnout at North Sydney Oval for what will be a history making game.

"We're also really excited to be playing in the Inner West with two matches at Henson Park - it's a wonderful community ground and a great venue for women's footy. We're also thrilled to be playing on the SCG in a local derby and we know the cross-town rivalry will be there from the start.

"Our team is hard at work training with just a few weeks before pre-season games will commence, so there's a lot to look forward to in the month ahead."
