Five Sydney Swans players have polled votes from the coaches for the AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award following the side's 38-point victory over North Melbourne in Round 22.

Young gun Chad Warner has polled seven votes following the victory where he impressed with three goals, 20 disposals, 4 tackles, 7 inside-50s and 11 scoring involvements. 

Ruck Tom Hickey polled 4 votes with 20 disposals, 38 hitouts, 9 clearances and 5 inside-50s, while Luke Parker had a team high 29 disposals,, 9 tackles and seven scoring involvements to claim three votes.

Lance Franklin finished with a team high four goals and 8 scoring involvements as he claimed two votes while fellow forward Isaac Heeney claimed one vote with 2 goals and 21 disposals.

Warner has now polled 55 votes for the season, one vote behind co-captain Callum Mills (56) who leads the way for Swans players on the leaderboard. Gold Coasts Touk Miller and Brisbane Lions Lachie Neale have 88 votes each. Mills sits 10th on the leaderboard.

The AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award is an award voted by the 18 coaching panels on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort by an individual player in a season.

Round 22 and 23 voting for the 2022 AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award will not be released until the announcement of the winner on Wednesday 24th August at the 2022 AFL Awards Night.
