The Sydney Swans have drafted Jacob Konstanty with Pick 20 of the 2022 NAB AFL Draft.

Regarded as one of the best defensive forwards in this year's draft class, Konstanty made a seamless transition from the midfield in 2022 that saw him flourish as a small forward.

A similar player to that of star forward Tom Papley, Konstanty finished the NAB League season ranked second for tackles (81), while impressing with his relentless work-rate and tackle pressure inside 50.

Representing Vic Country at the National Championships, his three-goal performance against the Allies showed that he can also prove to be a lethal attacking option up forward.

National Recruiting Manager Simon Dalrymple spoke of the club's excitement in locking down a player of Konstanty's talent.

"Jacob is a ripping player. He is a very high pressure player with a strong footy IQ and he has a great turn of speed," he said.

"We think he has plenty of upside so we're really excited to have him on board".

Meanwhile, Konstanty spoke of his pride in joining the Sydney Swans just moments after being drafted to the red and white, while touching on the prospect of playing in star-studded forward line alongside the likes of Tom Papley, Lance Franklin, and Isaac Heeney.

"I am just shocked and so honoured, I'm speechless," Konstanty said.

"Tom Papley is a huge inspiration to me, and an idol. I can't wait to meet him up in Sydney."
