The Sydney Swans have added a mixture of speed and height to their list with Cameron Owen, Jaiden Magor and Will Edwards taken today in the NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

Tasmanian Owen was taken at pick 17 and is a 203cm developing ruck/forward who has the ability to take a contested mark and kick goals.

The long-term prospect adds some depth to Sydney’s big man stocks.

At pick 31 in the rookie draft, the Swans took highly rated South Australian Jaiden Magor.

Magor is seen as an X-factor half-forward who kicked bags of goals for South Adelaide in the SANFL U/18’s this season.

While QBE Sydney Swans Academy athlete Will Edwards has been recruited as a Category B Rookie.

Key defender Edwards enjoyed an impressive rise this season, playing four VFL games in the red and white, while representing the Allies at the National Championships.

Sydney Swans General Manager of Recruitment and List Strategy, Kinnear Beatson, said all three players are long-term prospects, but he’s glad to have them at the club.

“Cameron, Jaiden and Will are all quality young men, and we welcome them to the club,” he said.

“Cameron really fits the bill as a long-term ruck prospect, while Jaiden has that rare ability to play in the midfield but also go forward and hit the scoreboard.

“We’re also thrilled to have taken Will Edwards as one of our Academy athletes. He’s had a promising season as a developing key position player, and we’re looking forward to watching him continue his development as part of our senior program.

“We think all three have bright futures,” he said.
