The Sydney Swans today unveiled a sculpture of 372 game Bloods legend Adam Goodes outside the Sydney Swans HQ.

Goodes was on hand to watch the unveiling, which was performed by former Swans champion Michael O’Loughlin and Swans Patron Basil Sellers.

Former Indigenous Swans players plus current AFL and AFLW players, staff and the GO Foundation also were invited to watch the unveiling at Moore Park.

The bronze sculpture depicts the Brownlow Medallist’s war dance he famously performed against Carlton in Indigenous Round back in 2015.

The sculpture was created by artist Cathy Weiszmann, the same artist who immortalised Swans greats Paul Kelly, Paul Roos and Bob Skilton.

Goodes said he was overcome with emotion when he saw the piece unveiled.

“Very impressed, Cathy did a fantastic job,” Goodes said.

“The Swans play Carlton tonight and it takes you back to that moment in the game … I think a lot of things started to change off the field in relation to me, but more importantly I made a clear decision on the field I wanted to celebrate my culture.”

Sydney Swans chairman Andrew Pridham said this was a proud moment for the football club.

“I just think it’s absolutely incredible, it depicts the moment and it depicts Adam perfectly,” Pridham said.

Michael O’Loughlin said it's a perfect way to honour the champion.

“It’s pretty incredible isn’t it. To have the honour of unveiling that was one of the highlights of my life,” O’Loughlin said.
