Blossoming Sydney Swans midfielder Oliver Florent polled four votes in the AFL Coaches’ Association’s Champion Player of the Year award for his performance in last Thursday’s loss to Melbourne.

The Swans fell to the Demons in a 22-point loss in the SCG clash, but 20-year-old speedster Florent gathered 25 disposals and two goals to earn the recognition of John Longmire and Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin.

Melbourne’s Nathan Jones (nine votes), Max Gawn (nine), Clayton Oliver (four), Jayden Hunt (two) and Christian Salem (two) collected the remainder of the votes.
