Lance Franklin to complete lap of honour

Lance Franklin will return to the SCG for our final game of the home-and-away season against Melbourne.

Buddy will complete a lap of honour at half-time providing members and fans the opportunity to farewell a champion of the game.

The match will also be an opportunity for fans to pay tribute to fellow retiree Paddy McCartin, who announced last Monday he will step away from the game.

Tom Hickey calls time

Ruckman Tom Hickey has announced that 2023 will be his last year in the AFL, with the 32-year-old set to retire at season’s end.

The veteran will notch up his 150th game milestone this weekend, having previously played for Gold Coast, St Kilda and the West Coast Eagles.

“People talk about the great culture of the Swans, and every part of it rings true. This is a really special club filled with great people across all the departments,” Hickey said on Tuesday, August 22.

“I love that I will be finishing up my career as a Swan, my family will be a Swans family for life.”

McCartin free to play

Defender Tom McCartin was successful at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night, having his two-game suspension for rough conduct overturned.

The Swans argued the impact with Adelaide’s Shane McAdam in Round 23 was accidental contact.

He is free to play Melbourne this Sunday.
