Star midfielder Josh Kennedy believes the Swans are less predictable this season with players showcasing their flexibility to be able to play in different positions.
The depth of the Swans midfield group has grown this season with more players rotating through the forward line when required.
“We spend a lot more time in different positions now; we have a lot of guys that can rotate through the midfield now, a lot more than a couple of years ago,” Kennedy said.
“It is great because it makes us a bit less predictable.
“I just want to keep playing to my strengths which is inside and to keep hunting the footy so I think the last couple of weeks I have been quiet but hopefully I can get back to that this weekend.”
Luke Parker has proven his ability to hit the scoreboard when going forward this year booting eleven goals from the first ten rounds this season.
Ben McGlynn, Kieren Jack and Dan Hannebery have also all showcased their ability at stages throughout the season to convert their opportunities inside the forward 50.
“It takes away our predictability when you can rotate a lot of guys through there,” he said.
“It is not just through the midfield but up forward as well, if we can get a different look forward line as well it helps throughout the course of the year to be a little less predictable.”
Kennedy booted 29 goals in the Swans 2012 premiership season but has just managed three goals over the first ten rounds this season.
While he is happy to play forward if called upon the Swans star is focussed on improving his work around the stoppages.
“I think it is something that I have been doing a little bit this year and could do it more (moving forward),” Kennedy said.
“I don’t want to take away from my strength which is inside, I always want to develop and improve my game if that involves going forward.
“If that is what Horse and the coaching staff want I am happy to do it but I want to make sure that the crux of my footy playing inside is up to the level that is has to be.”
The Swans will travel to Melbourne on Friday for their clash against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
