The 2023 AFLW Draft Combine kicked off in Sydney this week with seven QBE Sydney Swans Academy athletes participating in an array of benchmarking activities.

Asha Turner Funk, Holly Cooper, Marnie Robinson, Gabby Eaton, Serina Baukes, Kendra Blattman, Olivia Morris and coach Kristie Whittard all took part in the event at Netball Central in Sydney Olympic Park on September 25, where their vertical jump, running vertical jump, 20-metre sprint, agility test and 2km time trials was put to the test.

All players invited to attend the 2023 AFLW Draft Combine are eligible to be selected in the 2023 AFLW Draft which will be held following the 2023 NAB AFLW Season.

Selection was based on the number of nominations provided by AFLW recruiters, with all 18 clubs submitting a list of preferred attendees.

"It was a privilege to attend the AFLW Combine and watch the best NSW talent go to work," said Kristie Whittard, QBE Swans Academy Assistant Coach.

"It was great to see the bond these players have formed through their years of footy and especially through the Allies season. We are proud of the Sydney Swans and Giants Academy girls and the hard work and resilience they have shown.

"We look forward to bright future playing at AFLW level."

The AFLW Draft Combine will continue in Victoria and Queensland on October 8 before sessions in the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia in mid-October.
