The Sydney Swans are backing Sam Reid to return to full fitness and his best form for the 2024 campaign.

The Swans have de-listed the premiership forward with the club committing to redrafting Reid through the Rookie draft.

Reid missed all of season 2023 with a hamstring injury but has been in full training for the past six weeks and is feeling good.

Reid has so far played 181 games and kicked 183 goals with the Swans since being selected with pick 38 in the 2009 draft.

Executive GM – Football, Charlie Gardiner, said the club believes Reid can still be a valuable contributor.

“Sam has been a fantastic servant of this club for many seasons, and when he’s fit and healthy, is still a very capable key target and provides great flexibility and experience to our squad,” Gardiner said.

“We have committed to taking Sam in the upcoming Rookie draft, as we feel he can still play a valuable role on and off the field for us in 2024.”

Meantime, defender Robbie Fox has been elevated from the club’s Rookie list to the Primary list after another consistent season in 2023.

Fox has played 87 games for the Swans since being taken as pick 34 in the 2016 rookie draft.
