The Sydney Swans will take an unchanged lineup into their Round 1 match against Collingwood on Friday night at the MCG.

The Swans started their season in the best way possible in Opening Round last Thursday night in front of 40,012 people at the SCG, defeating Melbourne by 22 points.

Their next challenge is the reigning premiers on their home turf with Collingwood unfurling their flag before the two side's clash.

The Magpies were defeated by the GIANTS in Opening Round but coach John Longmire knows his side will get a fired up Magpies outfit who are back on the MCG for the first time since winning the 2023 Grand Final.

"Despite losing to GWS, Collingwood's stats were pretty good," Longmire said.

"From our perspective we back the boys who got it done last week but we know we have to do it again."

"We need to play well for four quarters and back our system and take away our oppositions strengths and continue to have an even performance, everyone doing their roles when required."

The Friday night fixture will be the first chance for Victorian based members and fans to see the team in the club's 150th year and Longmire hopes the Swans South Melbourne faithful bring plenty of noise as the team runs out in the Red V for the first time this season.

"You know it's going to be a big crowd and we looking forward to it," Longmire said.

"It's going to be loud and that's fantastic, it's great to play at the MCG on a Friday night.

"We are hopeful we get as many Swans members and fans there as possible, we need as much red and white there as possible and we need them in full voice."
