Defender James Jordon will play his 100th AFL match this weekend, when Sydney takes on Essendon at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Jordon spoke to the media on Tuesday, ahead of his milestone.
On his journey to 100 games
"I've always been very grateful for Melbourne for giving me that opportunity, to draft an 18-year-old from the country of Victoria, and then fast forward a few years and the Swans for giving me another opportunity to come up here, I guess I really haven't looked back since."
On his favourite game so far
"Your first game is always pretty special and I was able to do that for Melbourne and then my first game up here was also pretty special as well, some of those finals at the SCG in front of that crowd, it was pretty special."
On his family being Swans supporters
"Mum keeps me pretty level and she always reminds me how good of an opportunity I've got and it's pretty special growing up Swans supporters and we love this club and we're excited for where we can go."
On playing a role for the team
"Coxy just comes to me during the week and also last year, some weeks I might just play my own game and I'm a pretty competitive person so I enjoy playing with the best player most weeks. It's a great chance for me, and it's also getting me better as a footballer as well."
On kicking two goals against the Giants
"I felt like over the last 18 months I've developed that defensive role but something I've been working on is going the other way and trying to have impact offensively and I feel like that really helps the team."
On coming up against Zach Merrett
"We had a good battle last year, I think we played them at Marvel. He's a quality player and he's a player in form at the moment and someone we'll have to watch out for."
On what the win against GWS has done for the team
"We've never had a doubt that we can go all the way again, we were challenged probably last week by Coxy during the week about our contest and letting teams back in and I felt like we knew the Giants were always going to come on the weekend and over the previous weeks we've probably let a few more goals in than what we would have liked, but when they kicked two or three we were able to stem that momentum and we trained it during the week and we had a really good week on the track and had a good start."
On the role of Aaron Francis and Joel Hamling
"Joel and Aaron, they were great, they played a lot of footy in attack and defence and I think that's a great thing about our team. We've got a lot of players that can do it at either end and we had specific roles on the weekend and we were challenged during the week around our contest and in the air and on the ground and we wanted to come out and we wanted to be fierce in the contest."
