This year, we're celebrating the 20th anniversary of our 2005 AFL Premiership and marking the occasion with a special reunion match against the Crows next Saturday night.
The 2005 Grand Final is regarded as one of the greatest ever, with the four-point victory (58-54) over West Coast, ending a 72-year premiership drought for the Swans.
The match provided a number of memorable moments for Swans fans, including Leo Barry's match-saving heroics, the moment famously called by Stephen Quartermain, ‘Leo Barry, you star!’, and when coach Paul Roos hoisted the premiership cup in front of a packed MCG, exclaiming, "Here it is!".
The 2005 Premiership team will be in attendance at next Saturday's game, with Premiership heroes including Nick Davis, Barry Hall, Jude Bolton, Brett Kirk, and Lewis Roberts-Thompson returning to the hallowed turf of the SCG.
The Premiership stars will perform a lap of honour, and supporters will get a glimpse of the Premiership Cup. Members and fans can also visit the Sydney Swans museum to re-live the famous victory and other historic Sydney Swans moments.
Sydney hosts Adelaide at the SCG on Saturday, May 31 at 7:40pm.
Tickets are available here.
The match also marks a 20th anniversary celebration of the Sydney Swans Foundation, which is our Match Day Partner for this special game. The Foundation supports the next generation of Sydney Swans talent through the QBE Sydney Swans Academy.
