Data analyst Harry Hoysted has been named the first Dean Moore Award nominee for 2025.

The news was announced in an all-staff meeting, recognising Hoysted for his contribution and dedication to the Sydney Swans – work that is often done quietly behind-the-scenes.

Speaking to Sydney Swans Media, Hoysted said he was honoured to follow the footsteps of last year’s inaugural nominees.

“It's really special to be acknowledged by your peers, especially when there's so many people here who are amazing at what they do, but also just amazing people,” he shared.

“To be acknowledged by them is really quite special, and the group from last year, being in that company, is a real honour.”

A commerce graduate from UNSW, Hoysted majored in information systems and found a passion for storytelling through numbers. He spent three years at Westpac before joining the club’s commercial department.

Growing up as a Swans supporter Hoysted said it was a “no brainer” when the role was advertised. The data analyst supports several key areas including membership, ticketing, finance and general audience insights.

“I really enjoy being able to look at a whole bunch of numbers and data and try and find a story that can help guide what we might next do best.”

“The proposed focus was on membership and ticketing area. But as I've been at the Swans for a little longer, I've been able to work with more parts of the club which has been great to learn more about what other people do,” he added.

After almost two and-a-half years at the club Hoysted say his favourite part of the role is the constant stream of new challenges. As well as the opportunity to work outside his main responsibilities on match day.

“I think we're always coming up to new challenges and trying to understand the answers to new questions which is really exciting… it really helps us make things better incrementally every day.”

He added, “One of my favourite things about working here is the AFL and AFLW match days. How everyone gets involved. It's a relatively small match day role but the fact that everyone gets around it is special and to see the culmination of everyone's work across the club come together on those days is an amazing feeling.”

To be presented annually at the Sydney Swans’ AFLW Club Champion Dinner, the Dean Moore Award is a peer nominated award that will recognise a Sydney Swans staff member who has best embodied the club’s values of respect, discipline, courage, and conviction. Emily Chandler was named last year’s inaugural winner.
