New Champion and four inducted into Swans Hall of Fame

The late Henry 'Sonny' Elms has been elevated to Bloods Champion status while Premiership players Nick Malceski, Ben Mathews, Rhyce Shaw, and the late Harry Purdy have been inducted into the Swans Hall of Fame at the SCG on Thursday evening.

Three significant moments were added to the Swans Heritage List and three administrators were awarded life membership.

Children’s hand-drawn hearts to replace QBE logo on Swans guernsey

For the first time in nearly 40 years, the iconic QBE logo will be absent from the Sydney Swans guernsey this Saturday at the SCG – replaced by hand-drawn hearts created by children from Save the Children Australia and Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation (SCHF).

Cox: "You've got to focus on what's right in front of you, and that's North Melbourne."

Sydney Swans senior coach Dean Cox addressed the media on Wednesday in his weekly press conference. He provided updates on injured players, spoke about the form of Brodie Grundy and the challenge of North Melbourne on Saturday.

Speaking about the focus for the rest of the season, Cox said the side had narrowed its focus to week by week.

"The dialogue to, and certainly around the whole footy club, is we need to play our best footy," Cox said.

"You've got to focus on what's right in front of you and that's North Melbourne, you know, they've pushed sides and been in games for long periods of time, so we need to prepare them at their best and that's all we'll do.

"We don't look too far ahead other than planning for players and what their training programs look like, that's the only way we look two, three, four weeks in advance."

ARA First Nations Academy athletes land in Top End

The Sydney Swans have taken a contingent of youth boys and girls from the club’s ARA First Nations Academy to Alice Springs and Uluru, as part of a cultural development program.

During the eight-day tour, athletes will take part in two games in Alice Springs and Marn Grook with the Mutitjulu community. 

The tour has been made possible through the partnership with the Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Program who work under the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress.

Sydney faces North Melbourne at the SCG on Saturday at 4.15pm.
