Just one month to go until we celebrate the 2025 season and look back at the first year under Dean Cox as Senior Coach at our 2025 AFL Club Champion awards night.
The exclusive event, scheduled for Thursday October 2, will be capped off with the announcement of our 2025 Club Champion who will receive the Bob Skilton Medal as our best and fairest player.
How is the Bob Skilton Medal determined?
Following every game the match committee (made up of the four coaching staff) each award up to 5 votes to players based on their performance for that round.
There is no restriction on the number of players that can be awarded votes.
They could award 5 votes to every player in the selected team if they feel they deserve them.
The player with the most votes is awarded the Bob Skilton Medal while second place receives the Adam Goodes Trophy and third place is awarded the Peter Bedford Trophy.
How is the Rising Star Award determined?
Club Patron Peter Weinert introduced the Rising Star award in 1989 to recognise the young talent at the club and has supported this award on an annual basis.
The Rising Star Award is decided by the Match Committee. To be eligible for the award, a player may not have played more than ten senior games at the start of that particular season.
How is the Players’ Player Award determined?
The Players’ Player Award is a peer-voted award, where each member of the senior team awards votes (given on a 3 ,2 ,1 basis) after each match.
Awards on the night include:
- Adam Goodes Trophy (Runner up, best and fairest)
- Peter Bedford Trophy (Third, best and fairest)
- Rising Star Award
- Dennis Carroll Award for Most Improved
- Barry Round Best Clubman Award
- Paul Kelly Players' Player
- VFL Player of the Year
- VFL Development Squad - Player of the Year
