Sydney Swans star midfielder Isaac Heeney has been rewarded for his outstanding 2025 campaign, named in the All-Australian team for a second consecutive season and his third selection in his career.
Heeney backed up his scintillating form from last season, booting 37 goals and averaging 24 disposals this year.
The 29-year-old kicked five goals on three occasions in 2025, including a record-breaking performance against North Melbourne in Round 19. Heeney finished the match with five goals, 13 clearances, 34 disposals, 11 score involvements and 16 contested possessions, becoming the first player to ever record five goals and more than 11 clearances in a game.
Heeney also played a starring role in the Swans Round 10 victory over Carlton, where he gathered 38 possessions, kicked two goals, and had nine clearances.
It’s the third time Heeney has been selected in the All-Australian team, following on from 2022, 2024 and now 2025.
“To get another blazer is pretty exciting. I felt like I had a good, consistent year and was able to play two different roles which was best for the team which I’m really proud of,” Heeney said.
“To be recognised in the All-Australian team is pretty exciting and I know my family are extremely excited too.”
Sydney senior coach Dean Cox congratulated Heeney on the honour.
“Isaac has had an outstanding individual season, and this is well-deserved recognition of his hard work,” Cox said.
“He's been phenomenal for our footy club, not many players can do what he does in the midfield and then go forward and turn a game as well.
“Isaac’s game is based on hard work and what he does in the contest, and he is a player who can go wherever the game needs him, which is really valuable.”
The official 2025 All-Australian selection panel comprises of: Andrew Dillon (Chair), Eddie Betts, Jude Bolton, Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes, Abbey Holmes, Glen Jakovich, Laura Kane and Matthew Pavlich.
