Will Hayward and Oliver Florent came to Sydney together and will depart together, after each played 184 games in the red and white.

Hayward goes to the Blues as part of the trade for Charlie Curnow, while Florent departs in exchange for a future third-round pick.

Florent was recruited to Sydney from the Sandringham Dragons with pick 11 in the 2016 AFL draft, while Hayward came from North Adelaide via pick 21 the same year.

Both are much-loved members of the playing group who played in two Grand Finals. They depart as Sydney Swans Life Members.

Florent spent most of his career at the Swans playing off half back, impressing with his speed and delivery by foot. Hayward has dazzled on the forward line, kicking 229 goals in the red and white.

Sydney Swans Executive General Manager, AFL Football, Leon Cameron has wished Florent and Hayward well for the next chapter of their careers.

“Since arriving in Sydney, both Ollie and Will have been a popular members of our team and it has been a tough call to let them go,” Cameron said.

“We have seen Ollie grow from a shy teenager into a fantastic young man who has a good work ethic and an ability to unite others, while Will has made an enormous contribution on and off the field through his leadership and professionalism.

“On behalf of everyone at our club I would like to thank Ollie and Will for their contributions. We wish them both all the very best as they embark on a new opportunity at Carlton.”
