After a busy trade and draft period, the Sydney Swans have unveiled the highly anticipated guernsey numbers to be worn by our nine new recruits.

Star forward Charlie Curnow will wear #35 next season – the same number worn by his brother Ed during his playing career at Carlton. Joining Charlie in being traded to the club are Malcolm Rosas Jnr and Jai Serong, who will wear 13 and 10 respectively, most recently worn by Oli Florent and Aaron Francis.

Sydney’s first pick in the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft, QBE Sydney Swans Academy athlete Harry Kyle, will wear #32, made famous by fan-favourite Lewis Jetta who wore it through 127 games. Fellow Academy recruit Max King will wear #31, made famous by Bloods Champion Brett Kirk who played 241 games including in the 2005 premiership.

Jevan Phillipou, who was drafted from Woodville West Torrens in South Australia, will wear #18 vacated by Jesse Dattoli who has taken #9, previously worn by Will Hayward. While Billy Cootee will wear the #25 made famous by 2005 premiership player and veteran of 228 games Ted Richards.

Murray Bushrangers forward Liam Hetherton and QBE Sydney Swans Academy recruit Noah Chamberlain, who join the club as Category B Rookies, round out the new players, taking #39 and #42 respectively.

Sydney Swans Executive GM AFL Football, Leon Cameron, said it’s an exciting time for the players and their families.

“We carefully consider the way we allocate guernsey numbers – it’s special for both the player and the club because guernseys are worn with so much pride,” Cameron said.

“It’s a wonderful moment for all these young men. They’ve worked really hard to get their chance on an AFL list and I’m excited to see what they will produce for the footy club.

“We have much to look forward to in 2026, including hosting the opening match of the season at the SCG, and hopefully we will see some of our new players get an opportunity to run out in the red and white.”
